Ryan A. Sage

Ryan’s career in the electrical industry began with an apprenticeship through the IBEW, where he worked for Sasco Systems and Mott Electric. After completing his four-year apprenticeship and earning his certification as a Red Seal Electrician, Ryan spent the next six years serving as a journeyman and foreman, handling various Industrial, Institutional, Commercial, and Residential projects in British Columbia. Seeking to expand his knowledge of the construction industry, Ryan transitioned to the estimating and quotations department of an electrical distributor for three years, managing and quoting electrical projects. He then moved to an account manager position for 11 years, where he became the top salesperson in Western Canada. Ryan joined KEL Design & Procurement Corp. as a partner in 2018 and has served as the President and managing partner since 2021.

Jason Kennedy

Jason completed a Marketing Management diploma at BCIT and began his career in electrical distribution. He quickly transitioned to electrical contracting and has spent the past twenty years working on commercial and industrial projects in British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba. During this time, he partnered with two firms in Greater Vancouver and was responsible for designing and constructing several noteworthy projects, including those at the Vancouver Wharves, YVR (interior CRU’s), and Science World (exterior LED programmable lighting replacement). In 2016, Jason founded KEL Consulting to provide value engineering services to electrical engineers, project and construction managers, architects, and interior design firms. In 2018, Ryan Sage joined as a partner and KEL Design & Procurement Corp. was established, offering an expanded range of consulting services such as lighting design and equipment procurement.

Ian Martens

Holding a Master’s degree in Theatrical Design and Production from University of Calgary. Ian’s 20 year design career straddles the Performance and Architectural domains. Beginning over 20 years ago, a fifteen-year theatrical career includes credits for over hundreds of productions; garnering professional awards and nominations along the way. His design focus shifted to Architecture in 2014 – expanding his understanding and use of light and its design. A challenge he’s embraced while building a portfolio spanning hundreds of varied projects – using Light to enhance the human experience, regardless of design. His work has been recognized with IES Awards of Merit for Calgary’s New Central Library and Glenmore Dam Rehabilitation projects and has collaboratied on award-winning projects such as Calgary’s West Eau Claire Park, Ampersand Renovation, Major Tom, The Royal Alberta Museum Giftshop in Edmonton, Fairmont Banff Springs Rundle Lounge and Hello Sunshine. He has been an active member of IES Calgary Board of Directors, heading up the Education portfolio from 2017-2020, teaching Fundamentals of Lighting from 2017 through 2021 guest-lecturing on Lighting Design in faculties of Engineering and Environmental Design at the University of Calgary.
